Types of Yeast

Hovis Fast Action Bread Yeast

Hovis Fast Action Bread Yeast is simply added straight to the flour, with no need to reconstitute in water first.

It is fast action so that only one kneading and proving is required, making your yeast baking quicker and easier.

Extra-rich doughs which contain a lot of fat and sugar, such as Chelsea Buns, take more time to rise than plainer doughs. Rich doughs should be allowed to rise before and after shaping. Fresh yeast requires kneading twice to produce a light even texture.

One sachet of Hovis Fast Action Bread Yeast is equivalent to 15 g (½ oz) fresh yeast. To replace fresh yeast with Hovis Fast Action Bread Yeast allow one sachet for quantities up to 750 g (1½ lb) flour and two sachets of yeast for quantities up to 1.5 kg (3 lb).
